You may want to add a book to your library but hide it from the archive pages. This includes the automated /books/ archive and the [novelist-books] grid.
To hide a book, simply edit it (Books > All Books > Edit Book). Scroll down to the bottom to find the “Hide from Archives” option. Check that on, then save.
